Chocolate Kraut Cake

Ingredients:

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup cocoa powder

2/3 cup shortening

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

3 eggs, at room temperature

1 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup water

1/2 cup well-drained sauerkraut

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and cocoa in a medium bowl. Cream shortening with sugar; add to flour mixture and beat well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla and water. Blend. Fold in sauerkraut. Pour into greased 13" x 9" baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes, or until done.

While cake is baking, prepare Chocolate Drizzle to pour on sliced cake.
