Swedish Sausage Balls |
Ingredients: 1 pound sausage 1 cup bread crumbs 1/3 cup milk 1/4 cup onion, minced 2 eggs, beaten 1 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon crushed black pepper 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 1/3 cup milk Directions: In medium-sized skillet, brown sausage slowly and drain, keeping drippings. Soak crumbs in milk. Add this mixture to sausage, along with onion, eggs, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Combine and shape into balls about an inch in diameter. Saute in drippings until lightly browned. Remove from skillet. Blend 2 tablespoons flour with drippings, add milk, stir until gravy thickens. Add the meat balls to gravy. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes, green peas, and corn. |
