Oreo Truffles

Ingredients:

1 package Oreo cookies

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese

1 large bar (24 ounces) of chocolate of your choice (white chocolate, almond bark, rich chocolate, milk chocolate) OR use two colors for variety

Directions:

Crush the package of Oreos in a food processor or place them in a ziploc bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Place in a large mixing bowl and add one package of cream cheese. Using a large spoon, mix well. Place mixture in refrigerator for a few hours (IF you have the time) to help hold it together.

Using a cookie scoop, melon baller, or your hands, roll the mixture into small balls. Return the balls to refrigerator for several hours to make the process of covering them with chocolate much easier.

Melt about 1/4 of the chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler on the stove, following the instructions on the package and making sure that you don't get the chocolate too hot. Don't try to melt all of it at once, because it will harden before you finish coating the balls. Cover the balls with chocolate. You can either use a spoon or toothpicks or a plastic fork with the middle prongs broken away to coat the balls OR you can put the balls on wax paper and spoon chocolate over the top. You can either cover the whole ball or only the top half. For variety, cover with one color and drizzle with another color.

Place the balls on wax paper to harden. If you wish, you can add sprinkles, sugar, or extra crushed oreos before the truffles harden.

For various holidays, cover the balls with white chocolate and then add sprinkles or colored sugars.

Place the balls on wax paper to harden. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
