Orange Cookies |
Ingredients: 1 cup butter 2 cups granulated sugar 2 eggs, at room temperature 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 cup buttermilk zest and juice of one orange Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl, cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and beat well. In second bowl, combine flour, soda and powder together. Alternately add dry ingredients and buttermilk to creamed mixture. Add zest and juice. Drop by tablespoons on baking sheet. Bake 8-12 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool in pan for two minutes and then remove to wire rack to finish cooling. Ingredients for Icing: 4 cups confectioner sugar 2 tablespoons butter, melted juice of 1/2 orange 4 drops yellow food coloring 1 drop red food coloring Directions: In medium bowl, mix sugar, butter and juice until smooth. Add food colorings and stir until you create orange icing. Frost cooled cookies. |
