My Wife

Delores Jean (Lee) Buchanon was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on November 9, 1947. She was the oldest of six children born to Elmo and Eufema Lee. She graduated as the co-valedictorian from Alvaton High School in 1965 and then enrolled in Western Kentucky State College that fall. She got a job in the college's book store and that is where I met her.

Several things changed in the next few years: (1) the school where she graduated consolidated with others, so Alvaton became only an elementary school, and (2) Western Kentucky State College became Western Kentucky University.

Delores graduated with a degree in elementary education in May 1969. We were married on July 5, 1969.

Our first home was in Horse Cave, Kentucky. I tried to hold down two jobs, preaching for the Green's Chapel Church of Christ and working as the bookkeeper for Southern States Farm Co-op. Delores got a job teaching the fourth grade.
