Milky Way Cake |
Ingredients: 4 large (2.05 ounces each) Milky Way candy bars 1 stick butter 2 cups granulated sugar 1/2 cup cooking oil 4 eggs, at room temperature 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 cup buttermilk 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup chopped pecans Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a double boiler, melt the candy bars and margarine; set aside to cool. In a medium bowl, combine sugar, cooking oil, eggs and buttermilk; stir well. To this mixture, slowly add and mix together flour, soda, salt. Add nuts and vanilla, mix and then add to the cooled candy mixture. Depending on the look and style you want, either pour the batter into four round cake pans or a 13" x 9" baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until done. Ingredients for Icing: 2 large (2.05 ounces each) Milky Way candy bars 1 stick margarine 2 tablespoons milk 1/2 box (8 ounces) confectioners' sugar Directions for Icing: In a double boiler, melt the candy bars and margarine; set aside to cool. Pour confectioners' sugar into candy mixture; stir well. Add milk and stir thoroughly. Use more milk or sugar to make it thicker or thinner as needed. Pour over top of oblong cake or place over top of each round cake, icing the top and sides when stacked. |
