Hash Brown Casserole

Ingredients:

1 cup onion, diced

1/4 pound (1 stick) butter, thinly sliced

1 container (8 oz.) sour cream or plain yogurt

1 package (8 oz.) sharp cheese, grated

1 can cream of chicken soup

1 bag (2 pounds) frozen hash brown potatoes, thawed

1/2 to 1 cup potato chips or corn flakes

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, stir together the onion, sour cream, grated cheese, butter, and soup.  Mix well.  Add the hash browns and mix again.

 Spread this mixture evenly in a 9" x 13" casserole dish and top with crushed chips or corn flakes.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until mixture appears bubbly.

Yields:  Makes 8 to 12 servings.
