Crumbly Apple Pie

Ingredients:

unbaked 9" pie crust

7 medium Granny Smith or Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cored & very thinly sliced

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/3 cup butter, cut into small pieces

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a medium bowl, mix together apple slices, sugar, cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, and salt. Spoon into unbaked pie crust.

In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, flour and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg. Using a pastry blender or 2 knives, cut butter into sugar mixture until coarse crumbs form. Sprinkle apples evenly with topping.

Bake pie at 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until topping is lightly browned and filling is bubbly. If pie is overbrowning, cover loosely with aluminum foil. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
