Cinnamon-Apple Rolls

Ingredients:

1 cup water

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon red food coloring

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup butter, softened

2/3 cup milk

6 apples, peeled and chopped fine

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon crushed cinnamon

butter, to dot on top of rolls

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a saucepan, boil the water, sugar and food coloring for 5 minutes. Pour this into a 9" x 13" baking dish. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt. Add in the butter and milk and mix well. Roll out the dough, making it twice as long as wide, and spread apples on the dough. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the apples. Roll the dough like making a jelly roll. Cut into rolls and place in syrup in baking dish. Put a small dot of butter on each roll. Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
