Chocolate Meringue Pie

Ingredients:

2 cups milk

5 tablespoons cocoa

5 tablespoons cornstarch

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

4 egg yolks

1 cup cold milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 tablespoons butter

1 baked pie shell, 9"

meringue (see recipe under Pie Meringue)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place two cups milk into a heavy saucepan and heat to near boiling point. 

In a medium bowl, mix cocoa, cornstarch and sugar. Add egg yolks and cold milk; stirring until completely mixed. Pour this mixture into the hot milk, stirring constantly. Cook until thick. Remove from heat; add vanilla and butter. Mix well and pour into baked pie shell. Top with meringue and bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
