Cheese Sticks

Ingredients:

1 cup sifted all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons margarine

1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/3 cup cold water

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Sift flour, baking powder and salt into medium bowl. Cut in margarine with pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Add cheese. Toss until well blended. Sprinkle water over mixture and mix lightly with fork until pastry holds together and leaves the side of the bowl clean.

Roll on a floured surface into a 12" x 10" rectangle. Cut in half lengthwise; then cut each half crosswise into 1/2" strips. Lift strips one at a time and give them a twist. Place them 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes or until lightly golden.

Yields 4 dozen.
