Apple Crescent Casserole

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon crushed cinnamon

1 can crescent rolls

1 large apple, washed, peeled & cut into 8 pieces

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup whipping cream

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 egg, at room temperature

1/2 cup sliced almonds

1 tablespoon cinnamon

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, blend sugar and cinnamon together. Separate dough into 8 triangles. Sprinkle sugar mixture evenly over each one. Gently press sugar mixture into each triangle, flattening each one slightly. Place apple on wide end of triangle; completely roll up and cover the apple and seal the seam. Place in a 9" pie pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

While baking, take the next four ingredients and mix until well blended. Spoon this mixture over the partially baked rolls. Sprinkle with almonds and cinnamon. Cover with foil and return to the oven and bake an additional 15-18 minutes or until deep golden brown.
