Apple-Sausage Casserole |
Ingredients: 1 pound crumbled sausage 1 can (1 lb. 4 ozs.) sliced apples 1 teaspoon all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Brown the sausage in a skillet and transfer to a greased casserole dish. Drain apple slices, reserving juice. Top sausage with layer of apple slices. Pour most of sausage fat from pan. Stir in flour, apple juice, lemon juice and seasonings. Pour over apples. Add cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes. |
