Angel Biscuits

Ingredients:

1 package active dry yeast

1/2 cup lukewarm water

5 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

3 tablespoons baking powder

3 tablespoons granulated sugar

3/4 cup shortening

2 cups buttermilk

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Stir together all of the dry ingredients. Cut in shortening, add buttermilk, and the dissolved yeast. Mix well until the flour is moistened. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator.

When ready to use, take out what is needed and roll on floured board to 1/2" ick. Cut out with a cutter and bake on greased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.

Note: the dough will keep for several weeks in the refrigerator.
